Easter Eggs, soap making, spring springing....

My Easter egging was pretty successful today.  Of course there are 22 laying hens, and 5 duck hens, so we get alot of eggs. Today it was a box full!! think they were going to revolt if I had not picked up eggs today.  I learned some interesting things about chickens today... they are smarter than most toddlers, have a discernible "language" and are our closest living relative to a T. Rex... my husband calls them my baby Velociraptors.... and they do have that look when they are charging across the yard because I MIGHT be giving out treats.  They are pretty smart girls!!

Had a new soap experience... I was going for a "peaches & cream" theme. I got an oily mess. So I looked up oily cold process soaps, recalculated oils and lye and learned about re-batching.  Melted that mess down and amazingly, I think I've got a curable usable peachy soap.  The pretty color scheme I envisioned was shot, its a funky brown color instead of light cream and peach swirls. LOL... such is life, at least I won't have to ditch it. I'll work on that. We live in "peach country", we have a peach festival complete with a peach queen, we have a peach water tower even... so no bath line would be successful without peach.... stuff.  I'm working on it. LOL

The Bath bomb thing is still treating me like I am an idiot. Not sure what's up with that. Work in progress.  I HAVE got the hang of whipped body butters and when I tell you that is some amazing wonderful skin care, it IS AMAZING WONDERFUL stuff.

The green house is UP, I'll try to post a picture soon.  Even if no one ever reads this blog, its archiving my beginning. That's worth something.

Our garden spot is cleaned up, and we'll get to work planting it, as soon as I think the frost is past.  We've got some nice rotted chicken litter to add to the dirt. That should make great tomatoes. Keeps it natural. Spring makes me itch to get stuff in the ground.  I've got some lavender I want to get started... and THEN we'll turn our attention to the fish for the aquaponics set up!!!  If I could give up sleeping, I could get all this done so much faster. LOL
