Progress!!

Its been a few weeks, the green house is up, the garden is planted, the bees arrived two weeks ago!!

We set up our first wicking bed, which is a hydroponic type set up for a raised outside bed.  It seems to be working well. I planted it full of tomatoes, and peppers, some carrots, basil, chives and a few other odds and ends. The tomatoes have blooms and we have baby peppers. We also have squash, cucumbers, okra and lots of flowers in our little garden.

The bees arrived on a Wednesday. I didn't sleep at all the night before, I was so excited. I ran by the post office at 8am to pick up the first set. 10000 of those lovely ladies buzzing in their box.  Two more shipments came in on UPS.  Needless to say I was not their favorite customer that day. I got all of the packages hived in their boxes, things went nice and smooth with no major disruptions or shake up to the ladies, and no stings for me!! I checked them a week ago and things were all looking like they should.  We had little eggs laid which means the queens were doing their job and they were busy drawing out comb and putting in honey. I saw a few bees with pollen on their legs, bees feed the larvae a substance known as bee bread which is a mixture of pollen and honey. They are so fascinating

I have a partner in my soap making adventure.  A long time friend, (since the 8th grade), has joined me. We hold up in my kitchen making our SOAP NATURALS line of soaps, body butters, bath bombs and bath salts.  We have alot of fun and are making some great products. I am in the process of trying to get it where it is available here on our site, please be patient with us. Every thing takes so much time to get it all done. Melanie has a lovely boutique here in Clanton that has lots of great clothes and accessories and now carries our SOAP NATURALS   line of soaps and skin care products. I have tried to put some information on our pages that give you a good idea of the natural ingredients we use and why its good for you!! Click around and check it out!

We have baby chickens!! Too Cute and we were blessed with a couple of baby parrots! That's something I've done for nearly 25 years and still have a few babies now and again. So, we've been busy busy busy, like the bees setting up house in their new hives.

So winding up here at the end of May, the days fly by but we are progressing!
